Orthodontic Directory of the World   "since 1918"

          The late Dr. William C. Fisher originally published the Orthodontic Directory of the World in 1918. Some years later he was succeeded by Dr. Claude R. Wood who in turn was succeeded in 1942 by Dr. Oren A. Oliver with Dr. William H. Oliver as assistant editor. Today Dr. William H. Oliver is senior editor with Gray Oliver Thornburg as editor.

            Since 1946 every effort has been made to verify the claims of training from universities for each and every man claiming educational diploma. There are at least five universities that do not even have complete and accurate records of their orthodontic graduates prior to 1930; therefore, some errors are still present in the Directory. We have documentation from all other American and Canadian universities verifying claims of orthodontic training as well as membership in the American Association of Orthodontics.

            Correspondents and associate editors, representing component societies, are all members in good standing of the American Association of Orthodontists. Most of the representatives have been either a major officer in their component societies or the American Association and several have been presidents of both organizations, assuring for the best possible references and cross checking of published information.
